Alex Daalhuizen – Tim Hayes Fitness

Alex has experience as a Personal Trainer, Performance Coach, Cycling Personal Training, Strength and Conditioning Coach and Fitness Manager. He has a real passion for health and fitness, well qualified and a lot of experience. Alex has loved sport from a young age and has competed at regional level in swimming and currently plays competitive hockey. He is also mad about watersports and is always looking for something new things to try. When it comes to training Alex’s thought process hone in on the way the body moves and identifying dysfunction and returning it back to its correct state. “It’s truly amazing how the body works and the result that can be achieved.”

I first met Alex in June 2012 when I was struggling to recover my fitness and ideal weight following 7 knee operations, the last being in January. I wanted to be fit enough to enjoy my young family and feel better about myself but was having trouble making any progress on my own. Alex gave my exercise regime, some structure and heaps of motivation to hit both the short term and long term goals. The knowledge Alex has on rehabilitation and body movement has helped me gain the confidence to do things I never thought I would ever do again. After a month of PT with Alex I could already feel the difference, my shape and fitness has changed and it all thanks to the help and motivation Alex gives each week. – Trudie Strass

Training with Alex has been a great experience. We worked together over the summer and at the time I had had minor surgery on my foot hence I was apprehensive about training. Alex was very accommodating and worked well around my injury making it very comfortable for me to continue while ensuring I did not cause further damage to my foot.

Upon my full recovery, Alex worked out an amazing programme for me where in just a matter of weeks I began seeing unbelievable results. I started to find my clothes loosening up significantly and the triumphant moment came when even my ‘feel good’ pair of jeans started feeling a little lose! The programme was tough but at no point did I feel it to be impossible, I credit that to Alex, as he was able to tailor-make a programme understanding my potential so accurately. My core strength has increased significantly and it has given me the confidence to push myself even further attempting weights and exercises that I could never have dreamed of doing before.

I always found it encouraging that midway through a routine exercise when Alex would suggest certain minor changes to make it more challenging. It motivated me to always do better and set the bar higher.

Alex was always very professional yet approachable hence it was easy to communicate any difficulties or concerns at all times. His knowledge and expertise when it comes to fitness to weight training is excellent and I found myself constantly being educated in these aspects.

I owe much of my success this summer to Alex’s enthusiasm and drive and look forward to working with him in future. – Ashani De Alwis
